Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden, also in the town of Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England is a beautiful and historic castle built during the Norman invasion of England; during the 10th century. Built on the hillside above the moat which drained the River Kenilworth, the castle was enlarged and became a large palace, containing many baths, chambers and even a prison. It was fortified against attacks by marauding knights and soldiers and was never reduced to rubble, even though it was repeatedly destroyed during two English invasions. Today, Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden are open to the public and it can be a great weekend getaway.

There is no need to leave the grounds when you visit the luxurious, welcoming Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden. The gardens are surrounded by a magnificent wall that was designed by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1840. This spectacular wall consists of two imposing gates that open into a massive foyer and private rooms. The foyer has been designed with an aristocratic style, with gold thread handrails and large vaulted ceilings. The private rooms, which contain private bar and plush, comfortable seating, are surrounded by beautiful hand-carved oak furniture.
